Wow, deep thoughts! I'm always wondering if I'm pursuing what I should be - if it's the most important or valuable or time-efficient thing.

I didn't mind the vague beginning as I was so amazed by the illustrations :-)

The video was rather mind blowing for me as I have been an advocate of carrot and stick conditioning for years.

I'm going to check out the Ted video now.

I'd certainly like to talk it over and get more details. I'm very slow to accept projects right now because of my schedule, but this sounds like a winner.

nice site Mikey. Would you be willing to submit a short piece of writing that I would team up with a photograph and post in my website on a "Collaborations" page? T, Amy, Carol and some others have agreed to do the same. Give it some thought....dougie

Thanks Inky :)

I think you about summed it up in the word restlessness. It's so much more than that and yet that does capture the meaning in as much as words can. Intriguing.

Late to the party - perennially - but this struck a chord with me, because I understand what you mean.

Far less eloquently, there are moments in life where I am gripped by the sudden and all-consuming sensation that I am anywhere but where I ought be, a restlessness borne of nothing I can point to, a disatisfaction with what I am and have, and a burning need to be other, elsewhere, away.

I, too, take comfort in the fact that this too shall pass, and hold tight to the knowledge that this world is not our home, we're just apassin' through, and that one day, the longing will be forever quenched.

In the meantime, live. It's all you can do, and more than most manage.

I think that, to be applicable in fiction, this thinking probably needs to be limited to the action/thriller/suspense genres. Of course, I think that's implied by the word "Adventurer."

Most drama, romantic comedy, and so on do not fit the mold of adventurer and tend to employ more environment. However, I can think of quite a few romantic comedies where the main characters have no more of a life than perhaps an apartment, a couple quirky friends, and occasionally a job (though this seems to be optional).
